Playlist: Ljubljana’s Music Scene Through The Eyes of Selektor Dinarid

For the release of Indie Guides Ljubljana, we asked Petar Bukarica aka Selektor Dinarid to make us a playlist to help us discover the best of Ljubljana’s alternative music scene.

Petar Bukarica is a total insider when it comes to the music scene in Ljubljana. A former member of the punk rock band Proletariat, he now plays bass and guitar in a rock/punk band called Dkrog, which he formed with his old Proletariat pals.

On top of it all, he’s a DJ who goes by the name of Selektor Dinarid, and he’s performed at all the best alternative clubs in Ljubljana from Bikofe to Magda, Rog, Žmauc, Gala Hala, Yalla Yalla and Channel Zero (the last three are all located in the Metelkova City squat). His sets blend world music with oriental and gypsy melodies, Turkish and Iranian pop from the 70s (check out his mix of Iranian music from before the revolution), post-punk, new wave, Afrobeat, and highlife. For the release of Indie Guides Ljubljana, he’s selected ten local artists for us to check out.
